Do I need a Flu Shot?

The flu shot is an optional document. You do not need to submit flu shot documentation to get activated.

Once your account is activated, some facilities may require proof of a flu shot during flu season. If you have not submitted this documentation, you cannot accept a shift at a facility that requires it.

Why do I need a flu vaccine every year?

A flu vaccine is needed every season for two reasons. First, a person’s immune protection from vaccination declines over time, so an annual vaccine is needed for optimal protection. Second, because flu viruses are constantly changing, flu vaccines may be updated from one season to the next to protect against the viruses that research suggests may be most common during the upcoming flu season. For the best protection, everyone 6 months and older should get vaccinated annually.

Why does my vaccine expire "early"?

Influenza vaccination is recommended annually for persons aged ≥6 months for the prevention and control of influenza. The CDC requires that every year, the injectable inactivated influenza vaccine has a standard expiration date of June 30 for the upcoming influenza season (i.e., July 1–June 30 of the following year). We have set our system to expire all seasonal vaccines at the end of the season and we have added an extra buffer of 30 days. 

This will not prevent you from accepting shifts at this time as our facilities have turned off their flu shot requirements until the start of the next flu season. 

Can I submit a flu shot declination form?

1. If you cannot or will not get the flu shot, you can upload a Flu Shot Declination instead.
2. Note that not all facilities accept the declination, and you will likely still see some locked shifts if the facility does not accept the declination form.
3. To complete the flu shot declination, proceed as if you are going to upload proof of the flu shot, then select "Fill Out Declination Form" under the "Take a picture" option.  Once the form is filled out, it will automatically be approved.
