What is IntelyCare’s Competency Test?
IntelyCare’s Competency Test assesses a candidate's knowledge and abilities related to their specific role and nursing specialty. It is a mandatory part of the onboarding process and consists of two sections: the General Competency Test and the Specific Competency Test. Both must be completed in the Fountain system.
Q. How do I locate the test in the IntelyCare app?
A. You can access the General and Specific Competency Tests by going to Menu > Training and Courses in the IntelyCare app.
Q. What is the difference between General and Specific Competency Tests?
- General Competency Test: Required for all nursing types, this test assesses your general clinical knowledge to ensure you can provide safe patient and resident care. It is a facility-required document, meaning it is a document that the healthcare facility requires you to complete and submit in order to meet their specific employment standards.
- Specific Competency Test: Tailored to your specific nursing specialty, this test evaluates whether you have the clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary for the role. It is also a facility-required document, meaning the healthcare facility requires it to confirm you are qualified for your specialized position.
Q. What is the passing score for the Competency Test?
A. To pass, you must score 80% or higher on each Competency Test. This applies to both the General Competency Test and the Specific Competency Test individually.
Q. Can I retake the test if I fail?
A. Yes, you are allowed to retake the General Competency Test once if you do not pass the first time. Please follow the instructions provided in the IntelyCare app. Once you pass, your updated certificate will be available for upload. You won’t be able to accept shifts in facilities that require the test until you pass and upload your certificate.
Q. Where can I take the General and Specific Competency Tests?
A. You can access the General and Specific Competency Tests in the Training and Courses section of the IntelyCare app menu. If your documents are expired or near expiration, you will be prompted to retake the tests when accessing this section.
Q. How long do I have to complete the Competency Test after being notified?
A. You will be notified when your competency documents are about to expire. Be sure to complete the required tests promptly to avoid disruption in your ability to accept shifts. Tests should be completed before the expiration date to ensure continued eligibility.
Q. How do I know if a facility requires the General or Specific Competency Test?
A. If a facility has the General or Specific Competency document, you will not be able to accept shifts in that facility until you complete and upload the required competency documents.
Q. What happens if my Competency Test documents expire?
A. If you do not renew, you may be locked out of certain shifts. To keep available shifts unlocked and continue working with us, you'll need to complete with the IntelyCare app
Q. How often do I need to take the General and Specific Competency Tests?
- General Competency Test: Must be completed yearly. If expired, shifts in facilities requiring this test will be locked until updated.
- Specific Competency Test: Also needs to be completed yearly. Expired documents will prevent you from accepting shifts in certain facilities.
Q. How do I submit my Competency Test certificate?
A. Once you pass the Competency Test, you will receive a completion certificate. Download the certificate from the app and upload it to the Fountain platform to complete your update.
Q. How can I check if my Competency Test is up to date?
A. You can check the status of your Skills Checklist and Competency Tests in the app. If your documents are approved, you are all set. If they are marked as Missing, Rejected, or Expired, you must update them to continue accepting shifts in certain facilities.
Q. What do I do if I encounter issues with the Competency Test?
A. If you experience any issues or delays, please email us at credentialing@intelycare.com or use our IntelyCare in-app chat feature for immediate assistance.
Q: How can I make sure I am taking the correct steps to stay compliant with IntelyCare?

- Read and respond to IntelyCare Quality Assurance team emails.
- Review My Intelycare App notifications.
- If you are planning to update credentials for your annual requirement, aim to do so a minimum of 24-48 hours prior to your current Competency Test’s expiration.
